PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 2007-08 Team Academic Award recipients on July 29. Providence was among 353 teams that earned the honor. The award is in its 15th year, honoring collegiate and high school volleyball teams that earned at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

NCAA Divsion I broke the record for most collegate schools at any level earning the award. Seventy NCAA Division I institutions were recognized for the accolade. The previous mark was 56 schools, set last year. In total, 212 collegiate schools achieved the honor this year, the third highest ever in the award's 15 year history.
