PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Danette Doetzel was named Women's Division I Northeast Region Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year on Monday, June 9. Doetzel was presented the individual honor by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association after her outstanding performances this season at the BIG EAST Championships as well as the NCAA East Region Champonships. Doetzel won the 10,000 meter BIG EAST title in a time of 33:27.64, automatically qualifying her for the NCAA meet. She also qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 5,000 meters by finishing fifth at the NCAA East Region Championships.

Doetzel opted to only compete in the 10,000 meters on Thursday, June 12 at 9:10 p.m. ET at the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
