The Providence College tennis team traveled to Middlebury, Conn. on Saturday, March 15 for an indoor match against Sacred Heart. Despite earning the doubles point and forcing three of the singles matches to go into third sets, the Friars dropped to the Pioneers, 5-2.

Coming away with the only singles win on the day was sophomore Jen Cusasck (Bayport, N.Y.). Cusack took the No. 3 spot over Sacred Heart's Nicole Betz, 6-2, 1-6, 7-5. On the doubles side, Cusack teamed up with junior Meghan Gilroy (Fairfield, Conn.) to earn the No. 2 spot victory, 8-4, while freshmen Ayushi Sinha (Mumbai, India) and Kim Betzner took the No. 3 doubles win, 9-7. According to Head Coach Wayne Turner, the Friars are improving in all aspects every time they hit the courts.

Providence returns to action on Monday, March 24 for their first home match of the spring season. The Friars are set to take on Fairfield University at 3:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I.
